Turn Your Samsung Phone Into a Tablet With TransMaker
The TransMaker comes in two sizes: one has a 10.1-inch 1280 x 800-pixel
display and a more expensive model has a 11.6-inch 1920 x 1080-pixel
display. Both feature built-in batteries, attachable keyboards—for an
extra fee—and a slot in the back where you slide in your Samsung
smartphone to power up the device. Shenzhen Migoal also plans to sell a
small Bluetooth-powered candy bar phone for making calls without pulling
your smartphone out of the slot, since the accessory itself won’t be
able to make or receive calls.
The company hopes to ship its first orders by March 2014, and even if it
fails to raise $100,000 Shenzhen Migoal will still receive all
donations—meaning you’ll still hopefully get your TransMaker. Our only
worry is that the design might infringe on ASUS’s Padfone,
which offers the same smartphone-into-tablet functionality as a
stand-alone device. However, the Chinese company seems certain that its
product is different enough to avoid any legal issues.
