Update Samsung Galaxy Nexus ‘takju’ to Official Android 4.2.1 JOP40D Firmware

Galaxy Nexus I9250 yakju OTA Update to Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean JOP40D FirmwareHow to Update Galaxy Nexus ‘takju’ to Official Android 4.2.1 JOP40D Firmware:
  1. Download JOP40D OTA Update file from HERE.
  2. Get the Fastboot zip file from HERE. This is the program you’ll use in order to add the adb files to your computer and to flash the update.
  3. Extract the Fastboot zip contents and save them to a folder that has the same name. Place the folder on your PC desktop screen.
  4. Move the Android 4.2.1 JOP40D firmware zip to the Fastboot folder.
  5. Power off the Galaxy Nexus.
  6. Boot the phone into Bootloader Mode by pressing at the same time ‘volume up’, ‘volume down’ and ‘power’ buttons. When the screen powers ON, a START text will appear and you need to change it to show ‘Recovery’. Select this option and then the device will boot into Stock Recovery mode.
  7. A red exclamation point will show and an Android will be shown in the new screen. Press ‘Power’ and at the same time press Volume Up for the Stock Recovery menu to be visible.
  8. Now you have to connect your Galaxy Nexus to your computer. The drivers will now install on the PC and after that you should move to the next step.
  9. Go to ‘Fastboot’ folder and hold Shift key, while at the same time you right-click onto the folder’s white space. Select ‘open command window here’ from the right-click context menu. Command Prompt window will show up.
  10. Enter the following command in the Command Prompt and the update will be flashed when you finish the steps:
    • adb devices – this is the command that will show up the device ID of your Galaxy Nexus phone. If no device shows up, then the drivers for the phone were not installed and you should re-install the usb drivers.
    • adb sideload 1d62212ba0a9.signed-takju-JOP40D-from-JOP40C.1d62212b.zip – this will show the ‘sending: sideload’ alert and when this gets to 100%, the update of the JOP40C firmware will begin.
  11. When the installation is complete you should select the ‘reboot system now’ option from the Stock Recovery menu.
  12. Now your Galaxy Nexus boots into normal Android 4.2.1 JOP40D Firmware home screen.
